GAME DESIGN.

Based on games like Monopoly and path-building games, the focus of this game was to make a game with procedural rules that would cause the outcome of the layout to be different every time the game is played. Players will first have to build a starting city map that will be randomized every time they play.

CHALLENGES.

Since we wanted procedural gameplay, we decided the city map needed to be different every time the game is played. We found out early on that allowing players to freely place city and ground tiles could lead to all the landmarks and buildings to be clumped together and too easy to get to, therefore, we designed a set of rules and split gameplay into two phases. Without these rules, there was also a possibility of not having a complete map (empty tile spaces).

SETUP.

The city map will be a 7 x 7 grid with a starting "metro hub" for each player, a compass, and 11 city tiles (landmark or building tiles). Players take turns placing down the tiles to make the map following city building rules.

TURNS.

After building the map, the game can now officially start! Players will pick up an action card at the beginning of their turns and roll the metro section dice to determine the type of line they are allowed to place (unless stated otherwise in their action card). Connect your metro to as many places as possible to win!

ACTION CARDS | more events!

Action cards make the game more eventful! Possible cards include doubling a property's value, being forced to place a metro line somewhere, skipping the player's turn, or expanding the map. These cards can give an advantage or a disadvantage to the player.

Actions:

+ Place 2 or 3 metro lines
+ Pick a destination and double its value
+ Skip your turn without drawing cards or placing any tiles
+ Skip the next player's turn
+ You must place a branching metro line
+ Pick an action card of your choice
+ Pick up 2 action cards from the deck
+ Ex
pand the city by 1 row in a specified direction
