WARFRAME COMPANION APP.



mobile companion app concept





Tasked with creating a mobile companion app for an existing game, the Warframe companion app is a concept that allows players to access elements of the game at the convenience of their mobile phone. Players would be able to craft, sell, and purchase items without having to be in front of a computer.

THE PROBLEM.

Warframe is a game where time is an important factor, crafting items could take from minutes to days. Players may not have the time to check in when they need to.


A SOLUTION?

An app to allow the player to access the game to progress on their crafting project even when they can't log in from a computer. The app would also display important information on the game such as weather conditions on some planets and alerts to make it convenient for the players to be notified to log into the game.


TO RESEARCH!

We looked at similar apps, such as the Destiny 2 companion app and the Ishtar Commander to determine what we wanted to implement into our own and see what features were common for these types of apps. We made a list of features we wanted to take from the game to make it easier for players to progress as a focus.





First, we made a wireframe to get a clear idea of how the pages are linked.



PROTOTYPE.



Then we made a paper prototype with sticky notes being the menus. It was really cool to see it come together!



Our digital prototype was made in Adobe XD using graphics from the Warframe Fankit and in-game screen shots.



Title Screen



Displays the weather conditions on certain planets and navigation buttons for easy access.



Hamburger Menu



Can be accessed by tapping the hamburger icon or swiping right.



Alerts Screen



Displays the current alerts available to players and the duration they will be available, making it easier for players to be notified to log in.



Inventory Screen



Users would slide left/right to access items separated into their categories similar to in-game.



Foundry Screen



Players can start, complete, and pick up crafts.

Slide left to confirm or right to cancel.
